Guardian’s Customized Termite Treatment Options

Guardian Pest Control provides a number of treatment choices to protect you from subterranean termites, as well as other wood-destroying insects. First, we gather all the facts so you get the right solution. With Guardian, there is no one size fits all approach.

Termite Inspection

A trained professional inspector thoroughly inspects your home inside, outside, over, and under in order to identify the right approach for the needs and parameters of your home. We consider factors including the degree of infestation, construction type (concrete, block, brick, stone, slab, wood, etc.), and your concerns about the environment.

During our inspection, we look for conditions that can attract termites. This includes cracks in a concrete foundation, in a basement floor, slabs, or in hollow block and/or stone foundations, seams where plumbing and electrical lines penetrate the concrete, wood to ground contact, etc.

Your Guardian Inspector will provide you with a written detailed termite treatment plan that is customized for your home, and corrective recommendations to help prevent termites from getting into your home.

Types of Termite Treatments

With Guardian’s Customized Termite Treatment Options we use both liquid barriers and baiting systems or a combination of both to eliminate termites and prevent them from returning. Both treatment options are “safe” and effective in eliminating termites, but both extermination techniques require specialized knowledge and tools and expert installation to be successful.

Termidor Liquid Barrier System: This treatment is performed by applying Termidor termiticide into the soil along the exterior foundation of home and/or building through an application method called “trenching and rodding.” Trenches are dug into the earth along foundation walls to ensure penetration of Termidor into the soil. Where concrete slabs or hard surfaces are encountered, holes are drilled, and then patched, to ensure termiticide penetration and creation of a continuous perimeter barrier.

Termidor is an advanced liquid termiticide, a specialized slow-acting, odorless, non-repellent insecticide that is undetec-table, but lethal to termites. Instead, they contact, ingest, and share Termidor, completely unaware that doing so will inevitably eliminate the termite colony. Successful extermination of the entire colony is usually accomplished within three months after treatment.

Exterra Termite Bait System: Considered a less invasive, more eco-friendly termite elimination method, the Exterra Termite Bait System is “safe” and effective and utilizes fewer chemicals than Termidor system. Low-profile, cylindrical bait station that sit flush against the ground surface are installed around the home and/or building. The stations are checked and baited on a regular basis.

If termite activity is detected, the Exterra Bait Station is baited with Labyrinth Termite Bait and re-baited has needed. Termites feed on the bait and spread the Labyrinth through the colony via the regurgitation-feeding practiced by termites. Complete colony elimination can take a year. After colony elimination, stations are inspected seasonally and re-baited if new termite activity is detected.

For continued protection against termite invasion, annual renewal of your residential or commercial Customized Termite Plan is recommended so we can monitor for future termite activity.
